Maria Patrice produced After Orlando, evening in collaboration with NoPassport and Nuts and Bolts Productions as a national activism project. This one-night performance was in response to the Orlando nightclub shootings and raised over $1,600 for Latino Services at the San Diego LGBT Center and Brady Campaign San Diego. Patrice handled this event from start to finish, uniting five theatres in San Diego to represent a deliberate cross-section of arts in the city. Her creativity and attention to detail shone in the project. She curated short performance pieces for each of the participating theatres and arranged the details of the directors and performers, ticket sales, and marketing. Additionally she brought in Cathy Hansen a local retired Navy sailor and LGBT activist and Todd Gloria, a California State Senator, to host the event. Patrice was persistent in pursing these hosts—she persisted despite the difficulty of getting a state senator to speak at an event the day before an election and the event was an even greater success because of her determination.
